OC Mega Challah Bake
Thursday, November 14 at 7:00pm
Momentous Sports Center
14522 Myford Rd. Irvine, CA 92606
Coinciding with the international Shabbat Project, this year’s OC Mega Challah Bake is sure to draw HUNDREDS of women—and men—from across Orange County in joy, unity and inspiration. According to San Diego’s JCC Challah Bake, more than 1500 cities in 97 countries are expected to participate this year! Sara Briman, a previous keynote speaker and winner of the 2013 American Academy of Hospitality Science’s Five-Star Diamond Award for her challah recipe, explained that “the secret behind a good challah is not the pastry, but the prayer behind each ingredient.” So wash those hands, don that apron and get ready to knead, braid and connect with the wider Jewish community. Interfaith Thanksgiving
Sunday, November 24 at the Orange County Islamic Foundation, Mission Viejo (23581 Madero, MV 92691)
Every year Temple Beth El of South Orange County partners with our friends from Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church (Mission Viejo) and the Orange County Islamic Foundation (Mission Viejo) to create Thanksgiving food baskets in support of Families Forward, a non-profit organization committed to helping local Orange County families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Each
of these three houses of worship are asked to donate specific items which need to be collected, delivered to the host congregation’s
site, organized, assembled into food baskets, and transported to Families Forward in Irvine for holiday distribution to needy families.
This is an event for ALL ages as holiday greeting cards and other decorations are created by children to accompany the baskets. In years past our community has helped provide over 200 meals in this annual collaborative event. To volunteer please contact Jodi Halbreich
at jodihalbreich@hotmail.com or 949-439-5726.

Our goal is to collect food to feed 240 families and the temple is responsible for collecting the following:
• 240 can of cranberry, 14 oz. each
• 480 cans of sweet potato/yams, 15 oz. each
• 240 boxes of corn bread, 15 oz each

Please drop off your food donations to the table at the temple in the ECC area, and/or make a contribution to the drive by clicking the “Click Here to Donate” button. BE Sisters and Mens Club will match up to $800.
