In light of Rabbi Kort's recent announcement to leave her rabbinate here at Temple Beth El after this last year with us, the Board is moving forward with the process through the Reform movement's rabbinical placement organization, the Central Conference for American Rabbis. In order to post the job available in a timely enough manner to get great candidates to apply, the application must be submitted before Rosh Hashanah. Therefore, the Board has already approved the following individuals to represent the congregation in the Rabbi Search Committee:  Mark Adler, Firuzeh Claar, Jeff Greer, Dayna Herz, Bonnie Kehe (chair), Lainey Mitzman, Miriam Ohana, Helen Rasner, Brian Selvan, Debra Solomon, William Spector, Evan Wohl, and Charlene Zuckerman.

The committee's first task is to conduct congregational input meetings to find out your answers to the following questions:

  • What three qualities are most important to your congregation in your new rabbi?
  • The three most important priorities of our rabbi should be:
  • The single most important thing a rabbi needs to know about our congregation is:
  • What are the three primary goals of your congregation?
  • What are the three most important issues to confront in your congregation in the next five years?
  • What are your congregation's core values?

Please make it a priority to attend one of these three meetings, prepared to answer the above questions so that your voice is heard and your desires for the rabbi we hire are represented in the job posting. Please RSVP here to join us at the Temple on:

  • Wednesday, September 6 at 7pm
  • Monday, September 11 at 4pm, or
  • Tuesday, September 12 at 10am

If you cannot attend any of the meetings, please share your input online here.
